By implementing a structured PhD program, a vocational concept, and shared supervision of doctoral researchers by Thesis Advisory Committees (TAC), HBIGS has executed the guiding recommendations to promote young scientists issued by the Senate of Heidelberg University. The HBIGS tutoring concept offers assistance, encourages students to take personal responsibility, and stimulates individual creativity. This concept is designed to allow the doctoral researcher to develop and win confidence over time, and to eventually mature to become an independent scientist.
Courses, Seminars, Workshops
HBIGS doctoral students are fully integrated into the research and training environment of Heidelberg University and the non-university institutions. HBIGS has implemented a PhD program that combines the benefits of the traditional individual PhD with a structured interdisciplinary teaching program covering the entire life science spectrum.
