Main responsibilities and services provided by the HBIGS administrative staff
- Providing a recruitment platform for individual HBIGS PIs as well as research networks, such as DFG funded Collaborative Research Centers (CRC), Research Training Groups (RTG) etc.
- Supporting and counseling HBIGS PIs in recruitment and assessment of doctoral candidates
- Implementing the HBIGS PhD student recruitment scheme:
- Advertising open PhD positions on career platforms worldwide
- Inviting PhD candidates for interviews to Heidelberg
- Conducting qualifying exams on behalf of the Faculty of Biosciences - Supporting doctoral candidates with personal matters, PhD requirements, visa, accommodation etc.
- Managing admission of PhD candidates as doctoral students at the Faculty of Biosciences and enrollment at Heidelberg University
- Handling the admission of new Faculty members
- Assisting the HBIGS Executive Board in day-to-day affairs and preparing meetings of the Executive Board and the General Assembly
- Organizing and implementing the HBIGS scientific and career course program
- Providing individual in-depth career advice
- Keeping close contacts to industry and fostering exchange between companies and HBIGS
- Fostering career & social networks
- Developing the HBIGS alumni program
- Coordinating and supporting extramural activities & social events
- Planning and managing HBIGS finances & funds
- Developing, updating, and maintaining the HBIGS websites and the HBIGS online administration system
- Providing IT services to all HBIGS members
- Acquiring, evaluating, and disseminating general news and preparing a weekly newsletter for HBIGS students
